“MOEBHIOS MSCA European Project International Kick-off meeting” Hind Al-Husseini Arts College, Jerusalem – 4.12.2022

On December 4th, 2022, the international Kick-off meeting of the project “MOEBHIOS – Multi-attribute values’ OntologiEs to improve Built Heritage InformatiOn assessment in cluStered territories” was held at the Hind Al-Husseini Arts College in Jerusalem.

The project, winner of the competitive call Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions – Post-doctoral Global Fellowship 2021, is focused on the study of built heritage in clustered territories in the Middle East, with research activities for digital mapping and values assessment oriented towards a validation strategy of geographic information systems for Cultural Heritage in development programmes.

The project, assigned by the MSCA programme to Dr. Raffaella De Marco as Principal Investigator for the project at the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the University of Pavia, started on October 1st, 2022, developing research synergies and collaboration between the University of Pavia (coordinator), Al-Quds University in Jerusalem and European University Viadrina in Frankfurt Oder.

The kick-off meeting was attended by professors and researchers from the partner universities, who will support the project’s research and mobility activities in the role of International Supervisors: Prof. Yara Saifi (Al-Quds University), Prof. Izabella Parowicz (European University Viadrina), Prof. Sandro Parrinello, Prof. Francesca Picchio and Prof. Massimiliano Savorra (University of Pavia).

During the meeting, the activities of the next months of the project were discussed and planned, focusing on the documentation of the sites between Bethlehem, Jerusalem and Hebron. The field activities, coordinated by Al-Quds University through the Department of Architectural Engineering, will be oriented towards surveying the existing architectural heritage, and the socio-cultural values maintained by the local communities with respect to the preservation and enhancement of the sites. In this framework, the research will be integrated through the European University Viadrina and the Chair of Strategies for European Cultural Heritage for the socio-economic projection of strategies in the European context on local cultural heritage, and by the University of Pavia through the DAda-LAB. research and teaching laboratory of the DICAr in the development of digital documentation and 3D representation methods at the territorial scale.

In the coming month, the project’s social and media channels will be launched, through which updates and content on the activities and research topics of the next three years will be disseminated.
