Within the strengthening of international cooperation, a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Pavia and the University of Sharjah (United Arab Emirates) has been officially signed.

The agreement, finalised by GLOBEC, stems from a collaboration experience in the field of Digital Heritage that has been ongoing since 2023 and promoted by the DAda-LAB of the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture (MoU referents: Prof. Francesca Picchio, Dr. Raffaella De Marco). Among the activities achieved was the organisation of an international workshop at the Department of Architectural Engineering of the University of Sharjah within the Erasmus+ programme (Scientific Responsibles: Dr. Raffaella De Marco-UniPv, Dr. Eslam Nofal-UoS).

The prospect of collaboration between the two universities intends to be strengthened with joint research, teaching and exchange of staff and students, in the field of digital documentation, Virtual Heritage and Phygital Heritage, aimed at promoting case studies of Cultural Heritage digitisation between Italy, Europe and the Middle East.

Future events include an international workshop (June 2024) on the generation and use of open-web virtual models for the social experience of architectural heritage, organised at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (Romania).
