“Arsinoe 3D. La mostra su una città perduta dell’Egitto greco-romano” – Florence – 14.12.2023
On 14 of December 2023, at 5 p.m., there will be the opening of the exhibition “Arsinoe 3D. Riscoperta di una città perduta dell’Egitto greco-romano”, at the Museo di Antropologia e Etnologia, Via del Proconsolo 12, Florence (Palazzo Nonfinito).
The exhibition, which is a collaboration between the Papyrological Institute, the Department of Architecture of the University of Florence and the DAda-LAB of the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the University of Pavia.
The exhibition will illustrate an archaeological excavation mission of the Papyrological Institute “Girolamo Vitelli” conducted in the winter of 1964-65 at the site of ancient Arsinoe (Fayyum, Egypt), before its final demise, through digital reconstruction techniques applied to material owned by the Institute’s archives.
The exhibition allows visitors to virtually explore the excavation through video projections, interactive touch screens, and 1:1 scale models and 3D prints of a selection of the exhibits.
The exhibition can be visited from December 14, 2023 to May 15, 2024.
