“Venetian fortifications in the eastern Mediterranean basin” – Porta Vescovo, Verona – 21/30.11.2019
The inauguration of the exhibition “Venetian fortifications in the eastern Mediterranean basin. Knowledge procedures and digital documentation of Fortified Historic Heritage. DALMATIA AND MONTENEGRO” will be held in the city of Verona on November 21st 2019, at Porta Vescovo, Vicolo Porta Vescovo, at 5 pm.
The exhibition will be inaugurated concluding the Conference Day “Fortified Cities of the Serenissima in the State of Mar”, organized on the same day from 9.30 am in Verona at Bastione delle Maddalene, Vicolo Madonnina. Inside the exhibition, graphic products and multimedia contents of the research results coordinated by DAda Lab and PLAY laboratories of University of Pavia will be exposed, developed by the research groups of University of Verona, University of Bergamo, University of Florence and University of Montenegro, regarding the documentation of the fortified route in the eastern Mediterranean.
The on-site research activities, conducted through digital survey instruments, laser scanners, terrestrial and aerial cameras and mobile LiDAR systems, have enabled the production of databases and graphic drawings to support the documentation of the fortified landscape through an architectural survey of the monumental sites and of the fortified coastal route.
The event, co-financed by the Veneto Region, is part of the program of knowledge and cultural enhancement of the Venetian fortified systems already started in collaboration with the Municipality of Verona through VERONACITTÀMURATA project, dedicated to the digitalization of the historic fortified city of Verona, UNESCO site, to safeguard the route of walls and monumental city gates.
The exhibition will open from November 21th till November 30th, and it is sponsored by the Veneto Region and Municipality of Verona.
